    I could be wrong but I have studied iaido, jujitsu and karate in Japan. I have never seen the sword worn with karate gi. Karate gi are basically a modern reimagining of what farmers typically wore. If you want to see how samurai dressed look up Iaido. Also, the way we wear the swords in Iaido are the proper way to wear the sword.

      @@SuperstarKarate I have no videos to share, but I would point out what appears to be a lack of power in most of the thrusts. Both knees on the ground might very well spell defeat (such switches should be done on the feet). There also appeared to be no focus prior to and in the execution of movements and a lack of good dachi. Too many "kiai" and the pause at the beginning seem more dramatics than tactics. Speed of waza execution was breakneck and very good balance. Thank you for your response.

      Yes, and water is wet, the noon sky looks blue and wind blows. Any other insolent obvious things need to be said? No one would ever use a kata on the battlefield or in self defense combat. They are an exercise routine, not fighting, it closer to dance than fighting or sparring. From the wiki for katas. "The kata is not intended as a literal depiction of a mock fight, but as a display of transition and flow from one posture and movement to another, teaching the student proper form and position, and encouraging them to visualise different scenarios for the use of each motion and technique."

    • @DaniGirl6
      @DaniGirl6 2 месяца назад

      @@williamperkins9349 it was rude to reflect back what you put out, I think you got the message. You clearly don't understand. A kata is an ancient method for remembering fighting techniques to pass to students through generations. The various techniques are put in a way to flow together because back in those days people didn't have video and didn't often write things like this. Assuming the student could even read. It's not fighting a group of enemies or a sequence you'd follow in the actual fight. You would use parts depending on the situation. So practicing what to do if down on your knees for some reason is wise. Your comments reflect that you think a kata is about fighting is off a group or something. Not practicing for the different situations that happens when fighting and as a memory trick to remember the techniques.

      I'm three years late here, but... Hopefully you'll still see this. You're way off, man. First off, the obi worn under hakama is knotted in the back. Secondly, the tanto or wakizashi goes near the front middle, not the uchigatana. The joint between the fuchi or tsuba and the koiguchi of the tanto goes on the centerline, and the kashira of the uchigatana goes on the centerline... meaning that the saya would be considerably off to the wearer's left. 👍👍

    Wow! Some things correct some things wrong. First the "scabbard" is called a "Saya" (sigh-uh) and the Pommel or end of the handle (tsuka) is called the "Kashira" (kah-she-rah). I take it with a grain of salt and suppose that you probably should know that traditional japanese sword arts are practiced wearing a Hakama and either a kimono (ceremonial) or juban (undershirt) and training jacket for practice a Karate Gi top is very similar to a Kenjutusu top so tucked into a hakama would probably be no problem and in modern times most instructors allow for some level of give and take I suppose. this is strange and like I said, I feel like your heart is in the right place at least.
